Frequently Asked Questions |
| Question.
How can I import part drawing files from other
cad / cam software? |
| Answer. The
cad module (Item) can convert
part drawing files created in other cad / cam
software to our own cad file format, which has the
extension MDF. It uses a batch mode converter
supporting all the popular 2-D cad / cam file
formats. For further details, please refer to the
topics "Guidelines for creating an item drawing"
and "Convert a drawing file" under the Contents
page, in the online help associated with the cad
module. |

| Question. How can I
generate g-codes compatible with my cnc cutting
machine? |
| Answer. The nesting
module supports post-processors for number of cnc
controllers under the Result menu. Select the
controller from this menu, specify the relevant
parameters in the dialog box that appears on the
screen and specify the name of the file in which
you want to store the codes. If you do not find
your controller within this menu or if you need
different codes for the selected controller, you
may send us the description of the relevant G-M
codes required by you on e-mail along with a
sample code file. We shall either inform you the
relevant parameters to be specified for generating
codes compatible with your machine or if
necessary, shall implement the codes in our
software as specified by you. |

| Question. How can I get
after sales support for the software? |
| Answer. The software
supports a facility to store all the necessary
data in the form of a single job file, which can
be sent to us as an email attachment, in case of
doubt. After studying the file, we send the
relevant guidelines and instructions to our users
to overcome the problem. |

| Question. Can I use the
software for my punching / shearing machine as
well? |
| Answer. We have not
implemented the punching / nibbling features in
our software so far, but they may be developed in
due course. For shearing, we recommend the nesting
software PLUS 2D, developed by Nirvana Technology Limited.
Please note, the software is also not designed for
garment / apparel cutting applications. |
| |
| Question. As on date,
which other functional areas are not covered by
the software? |
| Answer. At present, the
software generates cnc code file on user's
computer, but does not support any specific
mechanism to transfer the codes directly to the
cnc controller. The software also does not support
3-D features, including unfolding. Finally,
although the software generates nested layouts and
toolpaths automatically, it may still be possible
to optimize the results further using manual
editing operations. |
| |
| Question. Can I get the
software / documentation in a different
language? |
| Answer. Sorry, but
right now, the software is available only in
English. |
| |
| Question. Can I get the
software in the form of source code or compiled
library? |
| Answer. Sorry, the
software is available only in the form of an
enduser product. |
| |
| Question. Is it
possible to update the software in order to
incorporate our own requirements? |
| Answer. We regularly
update our software to incorporate new
post-processors and we can always implement the
changes required for generating cnc codes
compatible with your cutting machine. Other
modifications, if feasible, may be implemented at
additional cost / time. |
| |
| Question. How can I
purchase the software? |
| Answer. Both the lite
and standard editions can be purchased either from
internet using a credit card or from a local
representative in your area, if we have one. For
more details, please send us an email at sales@most2d.com. |
